HOUSTON — Burn bans are now in effect across several counties in the Greater Houston area as dry conditions and increasing winds raise fire danger concerns.
According to the Texas A&M Forest Service, 159 counties statewide currently have active outdoor burn bans in place as of Tuesday, Feb. 24, reflecting widespread dry and fire-prone conditions across Texas.
Burn bans in the Houston area
Based on the latest burn ban map, the following Greater Houston–area counties are currently under burn bans:
- Montgomery County
- Walker County
- Waller County
- Liberty County
- Brazoria County
Neighboring counties immediately surrounding the Houston metro also show burn bans, tightening restrictions across much of Southeast Texas.
Officials note that conditions can change quickly depending on weather and fire activity.
