Former Missouri City Police officer Blademir Viveros was sentenced to 15 years in prison Thursday after being found guilty on all three counts of aggravated assault by a public servant.
A former Missouri City police officer has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for a wreck in the suburb south of Houston that killed three people nearly two years ago.
A Fort Bend County jury on March 26 convicted Blademir Viveros of three counts of aggravated assault by a public servant. Viveros was driving over 100 mph in his squad car without using lights and sirens when he collided with another vehicle, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
One of the victims, Michael Hawkins, 53, was handcuffed in the back seat of Viveros’s car at the time of the accident. After the crash, Hawkins was partially paralyzed as a result, according to a lawsuit previously filed by his family. He died as a result of the crash early last year…
