Katy ISD Names 2025-26 Teachers of the Year

KATY, Texas (Covering Katy News) — Katy Independent School District is celebrating its 2025-26 districtwide Teachers of the Year, recognizing educators who inspire students and set standards for excellence across the district.

Leonard Elementary’s Quarde D. Alfred has been named Elementary Teacher of the Year. Katy Junior High’s Jessica Melancon earned Secondary Teacher of the Year honors. For the first time, the district named two Elementary Rookie Teachers of the Year — Griffin Elementary’s Victoria Stornello and Faldyn Elementary’s Porchea Butler. Freeman High School’s Blake Kane is the Secondary Rookie Teacher of the Year.
