Missing Teen Found Dead In Florida As Over 200 Rescued In Perilous Weekend On The Water

A frantic overnight search ended in tragedy Saturday morning when authorities recovered the body of a 17-year-old Orlando swimmer who went missing the night before in the waters off Daytona Beach.

Volusia County Beach Safety identified the teenager as Amareon Anthony. According to agency officials, another swimmer spotted Anthony’s body along the ocean shore around 9 a.m. on Saturday, in the exact area where he had vanished Friday night. The swimmer immediately dialed 911, prompting a rapid response from beach safety lifeguards and the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident began Friday evening around 7:30 p.m. along a stretch of beach just north of International Speedway Boulevard. Beach safety spokespersons stated that Anthony was in the water with a female friend when a lifeguard noticed both teenagers struggling against a powerful rip current.
