A Belgian company that designs radiation-hardened microchips for space, defense and nuclear applications is planting its U.S. flag in Kissimmee. Magics Technologies has registered a U.S. corporate entity and plans to open a sales, business development and application engineering office at NeoCity, marking the company’s first physical presence in the United States.
Magics Technologies US, Inc. officially registered with the Florida Division of Corporations on July 20, listing its principal office at 194 NeoCity Way, Suite 350, according to Sunbiz.org filings. As reported by WFTV, the company plans to create up to 12 jobs at the new office, and Osceola County, SkyWater Technology, SelectFlorida, the University of Central Florida, the Orlando Economic Partnership and other regional organizations all supported the project.
Magics is a fabless semiconductor company, meaning it designs chips but relies on outside foundries to physically manufacture them. Founded in Belgium in 2015 as a spin-off of KU Leuven and the Belgian Nuclear Research Centre, the firm builds radiation-hardened microelectronics engineered to withstand up to 1,000 times more radiation than standard commercial devices, according to the company’s own account detailed by Silicon Canals. Its chips are built for space, defense and nuclear energy applications, per WFTV’s reporting.
Why a Belgian Chipmaker Picked Kissimmee
Magics cited Central Florida’s workforce, its academic partnerships, its proximity to customers and its existing semiconductor infrastructure as reasons for choosing the region, WFTV reports. The company’s expansion grew directly out of relationships built during an economic development trade mission to Belgium and the Netherlands led by Central Florida regional partners, according to Orlando News. The company had secured €9.7 million in total venture funding through late 2025 from European investors including PMV, KU Leuven Research & Development and SCK CEN, funding it earmarked in part for scaling chip production and expanding into North American markets…
