POLK COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — When Sierra Hernandez was missing, her family went looking for her and found themselves behind bars.
On Wednesday, all charges against them were dismissed and they were let out of jail.
It was an emotional reunion as the victim’s family was able to hug one another.
Since they are out, the family said they can now focus on what really matters: Sierra.
“We’re not going to sit back and be told don’t do it, so, we done it,” said Christopher “Shawn” Hernanzez, Sierra’s father. “Look at where it ended us up, was it worth it? It was worth it. I would do it again.”
Sierra leaves behind a family that would stop at nothing for her.
“I don’t think we will ever get over this, ever,” Shawn Hernandez said.
Sierra’s father (Shawn Hernandez), brother (Christopher Hernandez Jr.), stepmother (Amber Merzacco), April Merrill (brother’s fiancé), and Kalob Ashley (family friend) were all arrested last week.
“I actually received a phone call from a friend, that’s in Inwood, and I went and talked to her face-to-face and that’s when she told me what one of her buddies had witnessed with his own two eyes,” Merrill said.
