Tampa, Florida – In a significant ruling by U.S. District Judge Thomas P. Barber, a Winter Haven resident, Floyd Hintteon Green, Jr., 62, has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison. The sentence comes after Green was found guilty of possessing with the intent to distribute a substantial amount of methamphetamine, specifically 50 grams or more.
The conviction of Green, which occurred on September 6, 2023, followed a bench trial revealing the details of his criminal activities. The case against Green stemmed from an incident on December 28, 2022, when Winter Haven Police Department detectives conducted a routine traffic stop on Green’s vehicle due to a window tint violation.
During a consensual search of Green’s vehicle, detectives discovered a black toiletry bag containing a significant quantity of methamphetamine, totaling 442 grams. The purity of the methamphetamine found was notably high. In a subsequent admission, Green acknowledged his possession of the drug and disclosed that he had been selling methamphetamine at approximately $2,600 per pound.
