Orlando, FL – In a recent court ruling, Orlando Police Department’s diligent efforts in a sexual battery case have resulted in a substantial conviction. On April 16, 2023, officers swiftly responded to a distressing incident in the parking lot of 741 W. Church Street, Orlando, where Sammy Pursley Jr., a 57-year-old black male, was reportedly committing a sexual battery on an inebriated victim.
Thanks to the vigilance of witnesses who observed the crime in progress and immediately alerted the authorities, the Orlando Police were able to quickly locate and apprehend Pursley Jr. The rapid response and effective coordination of the officers were crucial in preventing further harm to the victim and ensuring the perpetrator was taken into custody.
This week, the case reached its conclusion as Sammy Pursley Jr. was found guilty of Sexual Battery on a Person over 18. The gravity of this conviction is underscored by Pursley Jr.’s extensive criminal history, which includes 21 prior felony convictions. Furthermore, he has been classified as a Violent Career Criminal, a designation that reflects the severity and repetitive nature of his offenses.
