A Large Lumber And Building Supply Company Opens A Plant In Florida And Brings Dozens Of Jobs

In early January of 2024, I wrote about the closing of a West Fraser Timber facility in Florida, as well as the loss of some jobs.

That closure took approximately 80 jobs with it, so it’s refreshing to be able to report on a lumber and building supplier company that is bringing a facility – and jobs – to Florida.

About 84 Lumber: According to the company’s website, it is “an industry leader in building supplies, manufactured components, and services for single- and multi-family residences and commercial buildings.”

They have 310 facilities scattered across 35 different states. The company was founded in 1956 and is headquartered in Pennsylvania. The company employs approximately 6,700 associates.

The New Florida Facility and New Jobs: The company is opening a new component plant in Winter Haven, which should be open by the end of January 2024. It is planned to be the primary component plant in the state of Florida, according to Pro Sales Magazine.

The company reportedly indicated that Florida has been a strong market. 84 Lumber Vice President of Installed Sales and Manufacturing Ken Kucera reportedly said in a statement:
