Polk County suspect arrested for homicide

POLK COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — A murder suspect wanted for shooting a man last week in Poinciana has been captured, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

Kwavaughn Armani Buckley, 23, was arrested at his residence Tuesday afternoon on the Polk County warrant by the Winter Park Police Department.

Deputies said Buckley allegedly forced his way into the Poinciana residence of a 36-year-old man where he shot him twice, with a fatal wound to the abdomen. Family members of the victim found his body the following Saturday.

Buckley is facing charges of first-degree murder and armed burglary with assault/battery. He was booked into the Orange County Jail and will be transferred to the Polk County Jail later.

“I want to acknowledge not only the great work by our Homicide detectives, but also the Winter Park Police Department in capturing our murder suspect,” Sheriff Grady Judd said. “They also recovered a firearm that we are working to confirm as the possible murder weapon. With this arrest, a very dangerous man is now locked up.”
