Recent storms like Hurricane Ian and Tropical Storm Nicole have shown just how damaging storm erosion can be to the Florida coastline. Senate Bill 32 earned unanimous approval from the Appropriations Committee on Agriculture, Environment and General Government and would require state municipalities to develop rules on replanting efforts for mangroves with the goal of mitigating erosion.
