Camaro crashes into Haines City home, setting it on fire

HAINES CITY, Fla. (WFLA) — A crash early Saturday morning set a Haines City home ablaze.

The Haines City Fire Department were called to the intersection of Kalogridas Road and Miss Helen Road at 1:51 a.m.

A Chevy Camaro crashed into the front of the home, setting the engine compartment on fire. It spread to the home, which quickly became engulfed in flames.

The occupants of the home and the car escaped the fire before officials arrived. Polk County Fire Rescue and Polk County Sheriff’s Office were called in to assist.

The fire was knocked down within 30 minutes and it was limited to the front portion of the home. No one was hurt in the incident and the home was not ruled a total loss.

PCSO detained the Camaro’s driver and passenger. The cause of the crash and fire is under investigation.
