Dogs Found Decomposing in Crates: Florida Man Charged with Felony Animal Abuse

A man from Poinciana, Lanoris Parker, has been arrested and charged with multiple felony counts of animal cruelty by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) Animal Cruelty Investigations Unit. Parker, 50, of 2299 Rock Drive, was charged following the discovery of severely neglected and abused dogs on a property he rented in Polk County. In addition, he was found to be operating an unpermitted landfill on the same property.

The investigation began when the property owner, noticing several unhealthy-looking dogs in cages on the rental property on Sylvan Ramble Road in Davenport, contacted the PCSO. Parker did not live at the property but was keeping the animals there. When deputies arrived, they found two dead dogs in crates and several others in poor condition. The Animal Cruelty Investigations Unit was called in, and an immediate investigation was launched.

According to affidavits, the two deceased dogs were beginning to decompose, and all of their ribs were visible. Nine other dogs were found alive, though three were unable to stand or walk and appeared to be in severe medical distress. There was no food in any of the kennels, and most did not have water. All the animals were seized and taken to Polk County Animal Control for emergency treatment.
