FEMA opens 2 hurricane help centers in Orange County

If you own a home or rent in Orange County and suffered damage from hurricanes Helene, Milton or Debby, you may be able to get help from FEMA at two new help centers now open on opposite ends of the county.

FEMA opened a help center at Bithlo Community Center on Washington Avenue and one at Apopka City Hall on Main Street. The help centers are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Residents can apply to get financial help with displacement, serious needs, temporary lodging, basic home repairs, personal property losses and other uninsured disaster-related expenses.

To apply for help you will need:

  • Your Social Security Number
  • Your address at the time of the disaster and the address where you are currently living
  • A contact phone number
  • A list of damages and losses
  • If insured, the policy number and the name of the agent or company
  • If you want the money directly deposited, bank information will be needed
