Bowling will become the first Florida High School Athletic Association sport of this academic year to crown champions this week.
States will run from Tuesday through Thursday at Boardwalk Bowl Entertainment Center in Orlando. Three teams and three individuals will represent the Volusia-Flagler area.
On the boys side, Seabreeze and Flagler Palm Coast qualified by placing first and second, respectively, in District 1-1A. Flagler Palm Coast made it as a girls team, along with Seabreeze’s Katelyn Miller, Matanzas’ Olivia Rabbat and DeLand’s Sabre Dieckhoff as individuals.
On Oct. 21, Seabreeze claimed the District 1-1A boys title at Palm Coast Lanes. Leiten Lundell (677) and Dalton Boice (669) posted the Sandcrabs’ highest three-game scores. Brayden Barnes turned in a 479 and Xavier Subia finished with a 417. Logan Compton and Brayden Russell contributed a 356 and a 181.
Host Flagler Palm Coast was the runner-up. Four Bulldogs crossed 500: Anthony Seeley (583), Richard Wood (574), Walkker Milano (552) and Sean Bibby (535). Cole Osypian and Fred Denker tallied a 326 and 146.
