27-year-old motorcyclist dies in Winter Haven crash

A Dade City motorcyclist was killed in a fatal collision with a vehicle in Winter Haven Sunday morning.

Polk County deputies responded to a two-vehicle accident near Country Club Road and Crump Road in Winter Haven about 10:30 a.m. Sunday morning.

A group of five motorcyclists was traveling south on Country Club Road behind a Ford Focus, according to witness statements obtained by Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver of the Ford Focus began to make a left turn onto Crump Road. Witnesses told PCSO the Ford’s driver had his left turn signal on.

At the same time, witnesses reported the motorcycle driver crossed over a double yellow line in attempt to pass the Ford on the left.

The motorcycle struck the car’s driver’s side door and the motorcyclist, a 27-year-old Dade City man, was ejected from the bike. Despite wearing a helmet, the man died in the crash.

The Dade City man’s identity has not yet been released by Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
