An Orlando man, identified as 39-year-old Michael Scheuer, has entered a guilty plea for charges related to a string of cyberattacks against his former employer, which could land him in federal prison for up to 12 years. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Scheuer is facing one count each of computer fraud and aggravated identity theft, with potential sentences of 10 and 2 years respectively.
The plea agreement revealed that after being dismissed from the company, Scheuer retaliated by falsifying allergen information on restaurant menus, potentially endangering diners with allergies. He also altered wine region details to reference locations of recent mass tragedies.
