Wrong-way driver crashes head-on into vehicle, killing man inside, Polk deputies say

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (WFLA) — A man was found dead in his car on Saturday morning following a head-on collision in Winter Haven, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

Around 4:25 a.m., deputies and fire rescue responded to the crash scene on SR-60, near Logistics Parkway to find 35-year-old Orli Dagoberto Argueta Sanchez, of Eagle Lake, dead inside his Nissan Sentra.

Officials located another driver, Sergio Nino Ramirez, 27, of Lake Wales, and his Hyundai Sonata at the scene. Ramirez was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

Witnesses told deputies that Ramirez was traveling the wrong way on eastbound SR-60 when he collided head-on with Sanchez, who was traveling east in the eastbound lanes.
