The Florida Department of Transportation will hold a public hearing Jan. 30 to provide information about the project development and environment study for State Road 544 (Lucerne Park Road) from Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to State Road 17 in the Winter Haven area.
The study will evaluate the potential roadway widening along an eight-mile segment of SR 544 to accommodate the projected increase in traffic demand, including truck traffic, generated by expected growth in Polk County, FDOT said in a news release. Project benefits could include enhanced safety along the project corridor, improved emergency evacuation and improved connectivity between Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and SR 17, the release said.
This hearing will present the preferred alternative and all analysis to date and will allow interested persons to express their views concerning the location, conceptual design and social, economic, and environmental effects of the proposed improvements, the release said…
