OPD sting operation brings criminal charges to nightclubs in downtown Orlando

The Orlando Police Department ended its sting operation “Operation Night Cap” in December 2024, which led to the discovery of 40 nightclubs and bars in the downtown area that were in violation of drug distribution and the after-midnight sales permits.

During Operation Night Cap, officers were able to enter the referenced bars and nightclubs in their report with firearms, due to poor or non-existent wand searches. It was also noted that in most cases, “IDs were not scanned or visually inspected, as mandated,” OPD said in a statement via Facebook.

“As a result, there were 85 charges against 32 suspects,” OPD said in the statement. “Notably, five of those suspects were employees at the establishments where the drug sales took place.”…
