Deputy-Involved Shooting Under Investigation in Orlando

A late-night burglary call in Orlando ended in a fatal deputy-involved shooting, prompting an investigation by state authorities.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO), deputies responded to a burglary in progress around 11:30 p.m. on February 8 at a home in the 100 block of W. Castle Street. Upon arrival, deputies positioned themselves in the backyard, where they observed two men inside the residence engaged in a violent struggle. One of the men was armed with a knife.

Deputies repeatedly ordered the armed man to drop the weapon, but he refused to comply. Moments later, two deputies discharged their firearms, striking the man. After the shooting, deputies attempted life-saving measures until paramedics arrived. The man was transported to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead…
