A late-night burglary call in Orlando ended in a fatal deputy-involved shooting, prompting an investigation by state authorities.
According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO), deputies responded to a burglary in progress around 11:30 p.m. on February 8 at a home in the 100 block of W. Castle Street. Upon arrival, deputies positioned themselves in the backyard, where they observed two men inside the residence engaged in a violent struggle. One of the men was armed with a knife.
Deputies repeatedly ordered the armed man to drop the weapon, but he refused to comply. Moments later, two deputies discharged their firearms, striking the man.
