Davenport Teen Aims for Eagle Scout Rank by Fundraising for Polk County Sheriff’s Training Equipment

A 13-year-old Polk County teen, Vini Giovanini, is channeling his effort to become an Eagle Scout into a community-serving project. Hailing from Davenport, the young Scout’s current endeavor supports the Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) by fund-raising for a high-tech training tool designed to aid deputies in shooting scenario preparedness.

Giovanini who began his scouting journey in 2021, advanced through the ranks – from the Webolos to a Cub Scout, and later to his present Troop 528 in 2023, has set his sights on obtaining an Eagle Scout status by contributing to law enforcement training. The equipment in question is designed to simulate the impact of a gunshot by delivering an electric shock to the wearer’s limb during training sessions. This technology is intended not to harm, but to prepare deputies for the eventuality of persisting in a confrontation after being shot.
