High egg prices cause Central Florida residents to pivot

During his typical grocery run at Walmart, Miles Griggs was shocked at the price increase of the 60-count eggs he buys to share with his roommates, and those high prices have changed their approach to their daily meals.

Griggs, sophomore film major, said usually he would purchase a box of 60-count eggs for around $15. When he went to buy eggs during the week of Feb. 24, he said he saw the the eggs doubled in price to $30.

Since he saw the initial price increase, Griggs went from buying eggs every three weeks to every five weeks. The two-week extension has caused him and his roommates to lessen how often they eat eggs and switch to more cost-effective meals…
