British tourist accused of trying to drown daughter-in-law in front of his granddaughter at Florida resort

DAVENPORT, Fla. (Gray News) – A tourist from the U.K. is accused of attempting to drown his daughter-in-law in Florida during a family trip.

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, officers responded to the Solterra Resort in Davenport on Sunday evening for a disturbance in a backyard swimming pool.

According to the victim and witnesses, 62-year-old Mark Raymond Gibbon of Beaconsfield, England, tried to drown his 33-year-old daughter-in-law during an argument.

The victim told detectives that she and Gibbon began arguing about his grandchildren while they were in the vacation rental home’s swimming pool…
