Remembering Beloved Orlando Fire Department K9 Nessie

The Orlando community is mourning and remembering the beloved Orlando Fire Department K9 Nessie.

The Orlando Fire Department announced with great sadness that its beloved Arson & Bomb Squad arson detection K9, Nessie, passed away.

Nessie was an exceptional arson detection K9 who was instrumental in multiple arson cases, some of which were linked to homicides. She assisted in arson investigations throughout Central Florida and trained with K9 teams throughout the county.

She joined OFD in April 2018 and became the third arson K9 for the department. It did not take long for her to make an impact as she was able to help solve a case in less than a year.
