BARTOW, Fla. (WFLA) — It took a jury two hours to determine Cheryl Williams, 49, was guilty of murdering Polk County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Blane Lane, 21, in 2022.
“Thank God because I don’t have answers of why, but at least God did this one,” said Shellie Lane, Blane Lane’s mother, after the verdict was reached. “I would love to say there’s a sigh of relief but it doesn’t bring him back.”
In October 2022, Lane and other deputies arrived at a mobile home in Polk City to serve Williams with an arrest warrant.
