Winter Haven Man Arrested After Confrontation With Polk County Deputy In Auburndale

Deputies find illegal drugs, knife on man after responding to disturbance call.

POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A 55-year-old Winter Haven man, Wallace Middleton, was arrested Thursday night in Auburndale after a confrontation with a Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputy. Middleton now faces multiple charges, including drug possession and resisting an officer.

The incident began around 11 p.m. on September 11, when Deputy DeJesus was dispatched to the area of Braddock Road and Berkley Road in response to a call about a suspicious and belligerent man. Upon arrival, the deputy located Wallace Middleton.

According to the Sheriff’s Office report, Middleton was uncooperative from the start. He informed the deputy that he had a knife in his pocket and then attempted to retrieve it, ignoring Deputy DeJesus’s commands to stop.
