Orlando budget proposal earmarks $25 million for public safety, 16 new police officers

ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando city leaders say public safety is a major priority in this year’s budget. They’re proposing more than $20 million in the 2025–26 budget for public safety, with plans to add more police officers, particularly in the city’s southeast region.

Residents in Lake Nona, one of Orlando’s fastest-growing areas, say they welcome the idea.
