Kissimmee Approves Redevelopment Plan for Former Kmart and Big Lots Site, Paving the Way Homes, Shops, and a Sports Complex

A major redevelopment project is set to reshape Kissimmee’s Vine Street corridor, as plans move forward to demolish the former Kmart and Big Lots buildings at 2211 W. Vine Street and replace them with a vibrant mixed-use community. Plans for 630 new residential units, more than 51,000 square feet of retail and commercial space, and a 73,400-square-foot indoor sports facility are taking shape in Kissimmee as part of this transformative project, which represents one of the most significant reinvestments in the Vine Street corridor in decades and is expected to bring new life and opportunity to this key gateway into the city.

Following approval from the Kissimmee City Commission on Monday, the City has selected Vine Street Redevelopment, LLC — a partnership between CapStrata and Hedrick Brothers Development — as the proposed Master Developer. The City will now begin negotiations for a Master Development Agreement (MDA) that will set the project’s timeline, including demolition, construction, and completion milestones.
