A trip to the movies turned into a scene out of a police procedural on October 7th, when a 68-year-old man was arrested after allegedly attempting to get free refills at a local theater. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) is calling “cut” on what management says was a repeat performance of retail theft.
The alleged caper unfolded around 4:23 p.m. when a PCSO deputy arrived at the movie theater. According to theater management, the suspect, Wayne Aanenson, Jr. of Davenport, purchased a movie ticket earlier at 3:45 p.m. But the main attraction for Aanenson appears to have been the concession stand.
Just 13 minutes after buying his ticket, at 3:58 p.m., Aanenson allegedly approached the counter with an empty refillable popcorn bag and asked for a refill, valued at $10.50. He allegedly followed up at 4:14 p.m., asking for a refill on a fountain drink cup, a value of $9.50…
