Suspected drunk driver reaches for waistband when asked about gun

A Clermont man was arrested after being stopped for swerving in his lane and reaching for his waistband when asked if he had a gun.

Officers stopped 21-year-old Naim Sufyan Abdool at U.S. Hwy. 50 and Sandhill View Boulevard at 4:15 a.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Clermont Police Department.

His vehicle had been seen moving from side to side in his lane, touching the lane divider lines. It stopped at the intersection of U.S. Hwy. 50 and Oakley Seaver Boulevard, but when the light turned green, it quickly sped up to 65mph in a 50-mph zone, the report said.

After being stopped, the officers noticed Abdool had multiple targets with what looked like bullet holes in them in the backseat. He was asked if he had any firearms on him, to which he started to put both hands on his waistband. He was instructed to put his hands on the steering wheel instead, the report said…
