On November 20, 2025, Polk County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a sales clerk at the Food Mart on US 27 in Lake Wales. The clerk was accused of selling alcohol to a 17-year-old. The arrest was part of Operation Pop Top, a program to prevent alcohol sales to minors in Polk County, Florida.
