Osceola County Standoff Ends with Arrest of Dalton Sears After 14-Hour Ordeal

An hours-long standoff in Osceola County culminated in the arrest of a 33-year-old man, Dalton Sears, after an altercation that began early Sunday. According to ClickOrlando, the sheriff’s deputies were responding to a criminal mischief complaint when they heard a gunshot and observed Sears attempting to hide in the woods. The situation escalated when Sears fled from the deputies and took refuge under a mobile home, resulting in a standoff that lasted nearly 14 hours.

With no small amount of drama, the standoff saw deputies discovering drugs and several firearms in the vicinity of Sears’ hideout. Under the mobile home, Sears eluded capture for close to 14 hours, during which gas and pepper balls were deployed to coax him out. As reported by WESH, when deputies cornered him, the suspect managed to use one of the not fully discharged gas canisters against the law enforcement officers, spraying seven deputies with chemical gas.
