LAKE WALES, Fla. – A Davenport man is back behind bars after a Sunday evening excursion that he claimed was a fishing trip, despite deputies finding him surrounded by cut fences and piles of copper wire.
Jack Edward Tolhurst, 41, was arrested by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) on December 7 after deputies responded to a trespassing call at a sand mine in Lake Wales around 7:30 p.m.
Upon arrival, investigators located Tolhurst and his Toyota 4Runner on the property. Deputies noted that the vehicle had entered the site by driving through a freshly cut fence. When questioned about his presence at the active mine, Tolhurst reportedly told detectives he was just there to fish…
