New homes built for homeless families in Lake County

CLERMONT, Fla. — A Central Florida nonprofit is helping homeless women get back on their feet. New Beginnings in Clermont just completed its village in December. Six families moved in right before Christmas.

It’s a project New Beginnings co-founder Linda Smith says was five years in the making.

The transitional homes are located right behind the New Beginnings Thrift Store in Clermont. Six single mothers get to live in the units anywhere from 6 to 12 months…
