‘False accusations’: Polk County man denies holding Uber driver at gunpoint, forcing him to drive-thru

DUNDEE, Fla. (WFLA) — The 24-year-old Dundee man accused of holding an Uber driver at gunpoint had his first court appearance on Tuesday.

On Monday, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office said it was searching for an “armed and dangerous” suspect, Jamarcus Fowler, after an Uber driver reported a carjacking that occurred over the weekend.

Just after midnight on Jan. 3, Fowler ordered an Uber to the Alibi Gentlemen’s Club on Hillsborough Avenue in Tampa, an arrest affidavit said. But shortly after he was picked up, he cancelled the ride.
