This has to be some of the best Orlando International Airport news we’ve heard yet!
MCO is currently in the midst of tons of new changes for its $26 million expansion. One of those changes included the expansion of the parking lot at the airport. Now, the news came out that on top of the parking lot expansion, there will be a new system in place to help people actually find a spot!

According to the Orlando Sentinal, MCO’s “parking expansion is part of a $5.9 billion capital improvement program at Florida’s busiest airport, which welcomed over 57 million flyers last year. The initiative also includes a new system for reserving some parking spots and a new parking guidance system to help drivers find open places for their vehicles. Both systems are currently being installed.”
This improvement could be a big change for those parking at the airport before their flights, or picking up friends and family who are flying into Orlando. Sometimes parking isn’t too difficult, whereas other times (especially on holidays), finding parking can be a pain in the butt!
It’s said that the project will bring new spots to the parking garages attached to Terminals A and C — adding on to about the 11,000 current spaces in the airport’s four garages and 23,000 available across its entire campus. Lance Lyttle, the CEO of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, the board that oversees the airport, made a statement about this new expansion. “This decision is about listening to our customers, tenants, and our community, adapting to changing needs, and investing where it matters most.”
The new parking guidance system should help people track open spots in all airport garages. Drivers will be able to find real-time information on available parking through the airport’s website, official app, and signage in the garages and on the roads. The system will be available in Garage C this year, while it gets put into the other three garages, and is expected to continue through next year.
It wasn’t announced when the opening date for the garage expansion would be, nor was the new “finding open spots” system announced at all garages. We’ll be keeping an eye out for all the news surrounding this new expansion plan. For more travel news and updates, make sure to stay tuned to AllEars!
