Hobby Lobby employee says she stole $1,084 due to difficult times from her husband leaving

A Davenport woman was arrested for making fraudulent returns and stealing company time as an employee at Hobby Lobby.

Officers responded to Hobby Lobby, located at 1375 Sandy Grove Ave., to trespass and escort 50-year-old Kyong Cha Lawson out of the building at 6:55 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, according to an arrest report from the Clermont Police Department.

Upon arrival, the co-manager handed over a letter of explanation from employee Lawson. She had been making copies of customers’ return receipts and going to different Hobby Lobbys in the surrounding cities to get cash from the returns. She had also been stealing company time by not clocking out, the report said.

The letter admitted to making three copies of customers’ return receipts and taking them to stores in Kissimmee, Orlando and Davenport to return the items for cash. Lawson stated she had remorse for committing these acts, and times were difficult because her husband had left her, the report said…
