POINCIANA, Florida — A 23-year-old man from Davenport was arrested following a hit-and-run crash on Cypress Parkway, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the scene on February 9, 2026, at around 5:53 p.m., where they found a 2026 Cadillac sedan and a 2015 Dodge Ram truck involved in the incident. Witnesses reported that the driver of the Dodge fled on foot but was quickly apprehended nearby while attempting to secure an Uber ride.
The suspect, identified as Joshua Avant Sims, initially refused to identify himself and resisted efforts to obtain his fingerprints, reportedly grabbing a deputy and digging his fingers into the deputy’s arms.
