A Florida man accused of murdering his 83-year-old wife allegedly told deputies he had “dealt with her dementia for too long” and would “rather live in prison than … deal with her,” according to an arrest affidavit.
William Elwood Simmons, 80, was charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of his wife, Nancy Lee Simmons, in Orange County. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office identified Nancy as the victim after deputies responded to the couple’s home Saturday evening, FOX 35, WESH 2 and the OrlandoSentinel reported.
Deputies were dispatched around 5:15 p.m. to the 8000 block of Romerly Court after a 911 caller reported a person “down,” the Sentinel and WESH 2 reported.
