Clermont man arrested after refusing to leave Love’s Travel Center

A Clermont man was arrested for trespassing after refusing to leave Love’s Travel Center for causing a disturbance.

A deputy was shopping at Love’s Travel Stop, located at 2615 W C 48, Bushnell, when an employee asked if he was there for 40-year-old Erik Andrew Barbosa around 10:45 p.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

The employees had just called law enforcement because of the disturbance Barbosa was causing. The deputy then looked over to see him standing inside the store looking at some merchandise. He was calm at the time and did not look back, the report said.

Still, the business manager asked that he be trespassed from the premises. The deputy approached him and told him to leave, which he reluctantly did. But he stopped a few feet outside the front door where he was again instructed to leave. He instead argued, stood still and refused to obey orders to walk away, the report said…
