Frustrated customer breaks screen of gas pump at Costco

A Groveland man was arrested after punching out the screen of a Costco gas pump, leaving $2,444 in damage.

A black Chevrolet pickup truck pulled up to gas pump 20 at Costco, located at 4600 Collina Terrace, on the morning of March 4, according to an arrest report from the Clermont Police Department. The driver, 40-year-old Bradley Wayne Davidson, got out to use the pump and had issues getting it to work.

Moments later, he hit the gas pump and punched the screen. He then went to a different pump and used his Costco membership card to begin his transaction. The customers who came after him were unable to use pump 20 and reported the damage to the store so the screen could be repaired. A loss prevention employee later told law enforcement that it cost $2,444.11 for the repair before taxes, the report said.

With a phone number taken from Davidson’s Costco membership, an officer spoke to him over the phone about the incident. He was out of town at the time, but he agreed to meet at the CPD on Saturday, the report said…
