The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has activated a new traffic signal at the intersection of West U.S. Highway 192 and Oren Brown Road, just west of Old Vineland Road/Bass Road near Medieval Times.
It’s part of future intersection upgrades that include new crosswalks with pedestrian refuges, pedestrian crossing buttons and an improved, extended westbound left turn lane onto Oren Brown Road.
West 192 now also features two new Pedestrian Hybrid Beacons near Four Winds Boulevard and Interior Street. These PHBs are overhead beacons that remain dark until activated by a pedestrian pressing a button on the signal pole. The PHB alerts drivers when activated to slow down with a flashing yellow light, followed by a solid yellow, to mark the presence of pedestrians. The beacon then displays a solid red light, requiring motorists to stop and allow pedestrians to cross.
