Knoxville City Council votes to ban indoor smoking in remaining bars despite opposition

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Knoxville City Council voted on Tuesday, passing a new ordinance in a 6 to 3 vote that will ban indoor smoking in the handful of bars and businesses that still allow it within the city’s limits.

On May 12, the council passed the motion 7 to 2 on first reading.

In this final reading, council members Denzel Grant, Amelia Parker and Matthew DeBardelaben voted against the proposal, while council members Karyn Adams, Nathan Honeycutt, Doug Lloyd, Charles Thomas, Lynne Fugate and Debbie Helsley all voted in favor of the proposal…
