City seeks public input on intersection safety improvements along East Knoxville’s Magnolia corridor

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The City of Knoxville is asking residents to help shape planned safety improvements at three intersections along Magnolia Avenue that officials say have experienced a high number of crashes and significant pedestrian activity.

The project is funded through an $8 million grant awarded by the United States Department of Transportation in 2023 through its Safe Streets and Roads for All program. More than $2 million from that funding has been set aside for improvements at the intersections of Magnolia Avenue and Cherry, Hembree and Castle Streets.
