KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The arraignment has been scheduled for the 11 current and former Knox County Sheriff’s Office employees charged in a conspiracy case.
Those indicted are set to be arraigned on July 1 on charges of conspiracy to commit theft of property over $250,000, theft of property over $250,000, and theft of services over $60,000. The case has been assigned to Judge Don R. Ash out of Murfreesboro.
What did the truck spill on I-75 in Knoxville?
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and Federal Bureau of Investigation began investigating members of KCSO’s Narcotics Unit and Special Investigation Unit after receiving allegations of theft. In May, 11 people, including former Sheriff Jimmy “J.J.” Jones, were indicted.
In addition to Jones, the other people facing charges are:
- Retired Assistant Chief Deputy David Henderson
- Assistant Chief Deputy David Amburn
- Captain Aaron Yarnell
- Former narcotics detective Curtis Cole
- Former Sergeant Lake Lowry
- Lieutenant Franklin “Rocky” Lowery
- Sergeant Tim Isaacs
- Retired Captain John Hopkins
- Captain James Hammond
- Mike Kidd
Law enforcement accused them of using the KCSO Narcotics Unit credit card to buy over $300,000 in personal items like electronics and hunting equipment between 2010 and 2018. Investigators also accused some of them of using county-owned vehicles to do things like home renovations while on duty.
