Juvenile Taken Into Custody Following High-Speed Pursuit Through Oliver Springs and Oak Ridge

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. — A 16-year-old male is in custody following a high-speed pursuit involving the Oliver Springs Police Department and the Oak Ridge Police Department on Sunday morning.

According to preliminary information, officers attempted to stop a stolen blue Hyundai Elantra around 8:38 a.m. near the area of Tri County Boulevard and Bennett Road in Oliver Springs. The vehicle, which had reportedly been stolen from Oak Ridge, refused to stop and fled toward Oak Ridge.

During the pursuit, speeds reportedly reached nearly 100 miles per hour.

Once the chase entered Oak Ridge, Oak Ridge Police officers deployed spike strips near Outer Drive. The driver continued a short distance before crashing near Shoney’s on South Illinois Avenue.

Authorities identified the driver as a 16-year-old white male, who was taken into custody following the crash. No injuries have been reported at this time…
