Knox County Schools projects enrollment drop; superintendent points to retirees moving in, smaller families

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Knox County Schools leaders are projecting student enrollment will drop by roughly 900 students next school year, a shift Superintendent Jon Rysewyk said isn’t unique to Knox County.

In a recent interview with WVLT’s Casey Wheeless, the superintendent said neighboring districts are seeing similar numbers and described the decline as part of a broader trend across Tennessee and the country.
