KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Roy Humphrey was among 16 million men and women who joined the armed forces during World War II. He just celebrated his 100th birthday, and this former soldier admires those in uniform today.
Judy Doane is proud of her father, Roy Humphrey, a World War II veteran. His family celebrated his 100th birthday on May 29. Humphrey grew up in Knoxville. As a young boy, life was hard.
“The last time I saw my daddy, I was 8 years old, he was lying in his casket,” said Humphrey.
