Lightning strike causes interior damage to Powell home

POWELL, Tenn. (WATE) — No injuries were reported after an East Tennessee home was struck by lightning on Monday. Rural Metro Fire said it received a call at 5 p.m. The home is located in the 300 block of Gregg Road, north of West Emory Road and west of I-75.

Rural Metro firefighters told 6 News they didn’t find any real fire burning when they arrived, but they confirm lightning did strike the house and did cause damage.

The damage is not visible from the outside and most of the damage was inside the home, where it damaged three rooms, including the bathroom and a child’s bedroom.
